I think a lot about writing. The act of writing, for me, sits on the chest for days - like a heartchache, and then, like an exhale, floods through the fingertips and onto the screen. Words are inherently musical. Sentences should flow like notes across staves, a breeze through the trees. I always try to read aloud what I write, making sure that words flow with breath. (Though I am rarely happy with exactly what I write: it's never long enough, sustained enough, thoughtful enough. I'm too dry, too poetic, too glib, too heavy-handed: Heart on sleeve.) But I was told today that while my style of writing has changed subtly, the essence of what I write - what I think about- never does.
The things I write about: love, loss, friendship, life, theatre, writing.
It's fitting really. The things you truly believe in should never change.
